Panhypopituitarism and lung neoplasm: a case study.
Pituitary metastases occur in between 1% and 1.5% of patients with malignant tumors. Metastases was first described in 1857 in the autopsy of a patient with disseminated melanoma. Since then, only 500 other cases have been reported, most frequently found in patients with advanced cancer, particularly breast and lung cancer. Pituitary metastasis usually appear in patients over the age of 60, reg...
متن کاملIrreversible electroporation of lung neoplasm: A case series
BACKGROUND Percutaneous irreversible electroporation (IRE) of lung tumors is a new minimally invasive technique which has recently been used in the treatment of soft tissue tumors. CASE REPORTS The case histories are presented of two patients with unresectable malignancies in the lung, who underwent irreversible electroporation as a treatment attempt. The procedure was performed under CT guid...
متن کاملLung folding simulating peripheral pulmonary neoplasm (Blesovsky's syndrome).
Six cases are reported in whom the diagnosis of benign pleural thickening with lung folding simulating peripheral pulmonary neoplasm was made. Three patients presented with chest pain, two were asymptomatic, and the abnormality was a chance finding in one patient with asthma. The radiographs in all cases showed similar appearances--a peripheral opacity appearing to lie within the lung, usually ...
متن کاملSuture granuloma simulating lung neoplasm occurring after segmentectomy.
A suture granuloma was resected which developed after segmentectomy of a squamous cell carcinoma of the lung and radiologically mimicked a neoplasm. This report emphasises that although the appearance of the lesion may be typical for malignancy, the possibility of a benign suture granuloma should be considered, especially if the lesion appears shortly after surgery.
متن کاملDiscrimination of human lung neoplasm from normal lung by two target genes.
Simple tools for discrimination of lung tissues can be useful in a fast machine-aided diagnosis, for example, by tumor-specific microarrays. We demonstrate that an easy ratio technique, based on the expression levels of only two genes differentially expressed in lung tumor and normal lung samples, allows discrimination of normal and neoplastic lung with a sensitivity of 100% and specificity of ...
